Generation P: November 16 (limited)

Generation_P-posterNew World Distribution gives a limited release to this 2011 Russian production, based upon the eponymous novel about the rise of the advertising industry in post-Soviet Russia. No, it doesn’t sound much like horror, fantasy, or science fiction, but there is a hallucinatory element that eventually emerges,  involving a secret organization that worships Ishtar, the Tower of Babel, and a computer-generated virtual politician.

Viktor Ginzburg directed, based upon a screenplay he co-wrote wtih Djina Ginzburg, based upon the novel by Viktor Pelevin. Cast: Vladimir Epifantsev, Mikhail Efremov, Andrey Fomin, Sergey Shnurov, Vladimir Menshow, Oleg Taktarov.
