Jason Flemyng To Take On Azazel In X-MEN: FIRST CLASS
According to Comingsoon.net, character actor Jason Flemyng – known for his many character parts in LAYER CAKE, THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, and most recently a bit part in KICK-ASS – has announced that he will be playing the character of Azazel, father of Nightcrawler, in the upcoming X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. For those unfamiliar with the character:
The character first appeared in “Uncanny X-Men” #428 in a storyline called “The Draco” where we finally learned that Kurt Wagner a.k.a Nightcrawler was the son of the lead of an ancient race of mutants, from biblical times no less, who looked like demons and who could teleport by opening portals into other dimensions. In the comics, Azazel had been banished to the “Brimstone dimension” by angels, but left that dimension to father children, one of them being Nightcrawler.
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is set to be released June 3rd, 2011
