Courtesy of the Starz Media YouTube Channel, today we present Dario Argento’s 2005 made-for-television giallo thriller DO YOU LIKE HITCHOCK. As the title implies, DO YOU LIKE HITCHCOCK? deliberately emulates the American Master of Suspense. Fans will recognize plot elements borrowed from several sources, most notably REAR WINDOW. The story follows a young man who rents lots of Hitchcock videos and also spies on his neighbors, until he sees something he shouldn’t, which leads him to investigate a murder-mystery, putting his own life at risk.

DO YOU LIKE HITCHCOCK is not Argento’s sharpest work, but it gleams far more brightly than his disappointing ’90s output. The plot may be borrowed, but at least it has a plot that more or less makes sense, and Argento shows he actually still knows how to make this kind of thriller work, building suspense without relying on gratuitous gore.
