Priest will battle vampires on screen

Hollywood Reporter informs us that Scott Charles Stewart has been selected to direct Screen Gems’ PRIEST. Based on a Tokyo Pop comic book, the script by by Cory Goodman is a sort of post-apocalyptic horror-Western in which a renegade priest battles vampires. The project dovetails nicely with Stewart’s current project: directing LEGION, an apocalyptic biblical thriller, which he also wrote.

Among the producers on PRIEST is Michael DeLuca, who was an executive at New Line Cinema back when the Freddy Kruger films were being made. (He wrote NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 6: FREDDY’S DEAD and, later, IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS.)
