Golden Globes nominated Button, Wall-E, Ledger

In a list of nominations that mostly avoided science fiction, fantasy, and horror films, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association selected Heather Ledger, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, and WALL-Efor consideration. Only BENJAMIN BUTTON scored big in major cateogories, earning nominations for picture, director, actor, screenplay, and music. WALL-E was nominated in the animated film category, along with BOLT and KUNG FU PANDA. WALL-E and BOLT also earned nominations in the original song category (for “Down to Earth” and “I Thought I Lost You,” respectively).

Ledger, of course was nominated for his critically praised performance as The Joker in THE DARK KNIGHT; unfortunately, the film itself, which is certainly ambitious and interesting enough to be taken seriously in the major categories, was otherwise ignored.

In the television arena, Showtime’s DEXTER was nominated for best drama and best actor (Michael C. Hall).
