DVD News: 1408 Blu-ray on the way

John Cusack in 1408, coming to Blu-ray soonThe Weinstein Company has been slow to jump on the Blu-ray bandwagon, having recently released THE MIST to home video on DVD but not in the newer high-def format. Yesterday they announced that they would be rectifying that situation. Today we learn that 1408 (also inspired by a Stephen King story) will receive a similar treatment, with a Blu-ray release scheduled for September 16. Although details are scarce, in both cases the Blu-ray releases will presumably include all the bonus features available on the two-disc DVD releases. (We reviewed the 1408 DVD here.)

Also on the way from the Weinstein company:

  • Dario Argento’s MOTHER OF TEARS comes out on DVD on September 21
  • FEAST 2 (a DTV sequel to the excellent FEAST) reaches stores on October 21.
  • Also on October, there will be a three-disc version of Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN remake, including a 4-and-half hour documentary about the making of the film. (Four and a half hours? That must be a typo, but that’s what we heard.)
