Reviews: Wall-E wows critics

Wall-E eyes big box office on the horizon.New York Entertainment has a short piece noting the enthusiastic - not to say downright gushing - notices that have been engendered by advance screenings of WALL-E, the new Pixar film coming out Friday. After remarking that the film’s titular robot bears a remarkable resemblance to the star of SHORT CIRCUIT, the piece links to a couple of sample reviews: one from Adam Best at Fansided.com and one from Harry Knowles at Ain’t It Cool News (which includes excerpts from other positive reactions to the film).

The initial reactions are so wild-eyed (”the best film Walt Disney has ever had its name on”) that they almost inspire a knee-jerk backlash. On the other hand, Jim Hill Media reports that advance word predicts WALL-E will outgross recent Pixar films THE INCREDIBLES, MONSTERS INC, CARS, and RATATOUILLE. All of those titles were certified blockbusters, but there has been a toward trend in ticket sales since FINDING NEMO, and both CARS and RATATOUILLE failed to meet opening weekend predictions. If WALL-E hits bit, it could reverse the trend.
