I am so glad that you share in my opinion of remakes of awesome asian films.

I too have watched all the remakes, and have yet to be impressed, although it was very close with the Grudge, but I believe that was due to the use of the original actors/characters.

It seems that the US is struggling to come up with new film ideas these days, using old films (war of the worlds, Posiedon and a suprisingly large amount more), then remaking Asian films, because they either cant be bothered to, or simply cant, create their own horror film, and then, they make sequels...to everything that comes out.

The suprising thing is just how wrong they get the remake, I mean how difficult can it be to americanise the film, but somehow they succeed...every time.
