DIARY OF THE DEAD Q&A: ESplatter posts a summary of the question-and-answer session with George Romero, following a screening of his film in New York.

DIAMOND DEAD: Surprisingly, a previous Romero project, about a rock band comprised of zombies, seems to have returned from the grave. Romero had given up on the project but was surprised to get a phone call from the producer, saying ‘We’re back!” Romero also hopes to pursue the themes of DIARY OF THE DEAD in a sequel, but says the follow-up promised by the open end of LAND OF THE DEAD will probably never materialize.

R-RATED CLIP FROM “THE SIGNAL“: IGN.com has a clip from this interesting film, which opens on the 22nd. It’s not exactly a zombie movie, but it has some parallels with the genre (your next door neighbor is suddenly homicidal); in some ways, it’s closer to David Cronenberg’s RABID or recent efforts like 28 WEEKS LATER.

RELEASE DATES:

• FRONTIERE(S), the French horror-thriller, is set for a May 9 platform release, hitting DVD shelves less than a week later on May 13.
• The HELLRAISER remake, held up by the writer’s strike, is now scheduled for January 9, 2009.
• INSIDE, the French gore fest, will come out on an unrated DVD on April 15.
• MALEFIQUE from dirctor Eric Valette is also set for home video release on April 15. This French supernatural thriller has a better reputation than Valette’s U.S. debut, remaking ONE MISSED CALL.
