Box Office: Cloverfield clobbered

A pair of new movies teamed up with one returning flick to knock CLOVERFIELD not only out of the #1 spot but all the way down to #4. The debut of MEET THE SPARTANS, a spoof of 300, took first place with $18.73-million. The debut of RAMBO took second place with $18.15-million. 27 DRESSES, which had been in second place behind CLOVERFIELD last week, dropped to third place this week, with $13.6-million.

That left CLOVERFIELD in fourth place with $12.7-million during its second weekend of release; fortunately, that first weekend was a long holiday, so the film has earned $64.29-million.
