Box Office: “Legend” and “Compass” are golden overseas
I AM LEGEND earned $33-million in foreign territories last week, raising its international haul to $169.3-million - not surprising when you consider how strong the film performed in the U.S.
What is surprising is the strength of THE GOLDEN COMPASS at the overseas box office, earning $23.1-million this weekend for a total of $228.-million - a phenomenal return for a film that could not break $100-million domestically.
ENCHANTED, meanwhile has earned $138-million in 34 foreign countries. ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS has earned $63.4-million. And BEE MOVIE has buzzed $131.7-million. All of these totals are in addition to U.S. ticket sales.
