Maxim.com has posted their list of The Best Horror Movie Deaths, featuring 10 gruesome demises from films like DAY OF THE DEAD, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3, THE THING, and DEAD ALIVE. The list takes full advantage of the Internet, offering not only descriptions but also films clips illustrating the gore as no text or still photo ever could.

The thing is, with one exception, I had seen all the scenes, and I did not find many of them memorable; certainly, I would not particularly have expected to find them here. Still, you have to give them credit for including the exploding head from SCANNERS. And it is some kind of tribute to the late Lucio Fulci that he scores not one but two slots on the list (for the gouged eye in ZOMBIE and the drilled head in CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD). After those two, the #1 winner (a pretty good scene from JASON X) is almost an anti-climax.
