Hollywood Gothique: The Dark Knight in Person
It was not so very long ago that Christian Bale was just an actor, not a movie star. Rather famously, he almost lost out on the title role of AMERICAN PSYCHO (2000) when the production company briefly flirted with hiring Leonardo DiCaprio, who was considered a much bigger box office draw, coming off the mega-success of TITANIC. Well, all that changed with BATMAN BEGINS (2005), which led to high-profile roles in this year’s 3:10 TO YUMA and I’M NOT THERE.
Acknowledging this success, the American Cinematheque will be hosting a Christian Bale marathon this Saturday at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, California. Bale will attend in person, and there will be an all-evening buffet to help you get through all four films on the quadruple bill: 3:10 TO YUMA, I’M NOT THERE, BATMAN BEGINS, and AMERICAN PSYCHO.
Only the last two titles fall into the realm of cinefantastique, but they are worth checking out, especially if you have not seen them on the big screen.
The show starts at 6:30pm. Get more info here.
