Laserblast: Ratatouille & Pixar
There are relatively slim pickings among this week’s sci-fi, fantasy, and horror DVD releases. The big mouse in the house is RATATOUILLE, the computer-animated comedy from Pixar, which arrives on DVD and Blu-ray disc. Writer-director Brad Bird’s film is not up to the level of his previous effort, THE INCREDIBLES, but it still offers enough amusing moments to be worthwhile. Bonus features include: Deleted Scenes, with an introduction by Bird; “Your Friend the Rat,” a new short film starring Remy and Emile; “Fine Food and Film,” a conversation with Bird and Thomas Keller, which depicts how Keller’s culinary expertise was used in the film; and “Lifted,” the newest short subject from Pixar. Also reaching video store shelves this week is a Blu-ray version of Pixar’s previous hit, CARS, and the Pixar Short Films Collection, Volume 1 on Blu-ray.
Other DVD offerings this week include THE X-FILES: THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION and DR. WHO - THE COMPLETE THIRD SERIES. Click below the fold to find them all.
