DVD Times alerts us to the imminent release of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1956) on UK Region 2 DVD. This is the first DVD release for the Don Siegel-directed classic of paranoid science-fiction, timed to coincide with the theatrical release of THE INVASION, the disappointing remake starring Nicole Kidman.

Also scheduled for October 1 release on DVD is “Classic Sci-Fi,” a box set that packages BODY SNATCHERS with Howard Hawks’ 1951 production of THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD, plus four ’50s films directed by Jack Arnold: THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN, THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE, and TARANTULA (check out the last one for the cameo appearance by Clint Eastwood as an incredulous fighter pilot who napalms the nasty spider to death at the climax).
